Media release from TVNZ :
TVNZ has announced the presenting team for the ONE News content that will screen on TVNZ 7, the company’s second digital channel, which launches on the Freeview platform on 30 March, 2008.

TVNZ 7 will be a factual channel, broadcasting news programmes, documentaries (both new and historical), and programmes which debate and analyse current events.

The new channel will have around 30% news content, produced out of TVNZ’s Auckland newsroom.  Ten-minute ONE News bulletins will be broadcast every hour, on the hour, from 6am until 11pm.  The breakfast zone will be dedicated to news, with rolling, updated ten-minute bulletins broadcast continuously between 6am and 9am.

TVNZ 7’s flagship news programme will be a non-commercial hour which will screen nightly at 8pm.  The evening news hour will be co-anchored by ONE News Tonight host Greg Boyed and Geraline Knox, a lawyer and broadcaster who presented news bulletins on Malaysia’s news channel, NTV-7.

A team of dedicated producer/presenters will anchor the ONE News bulletins that run throughout the day.  The new team brings together extensive local and international news experience, and includes Fiona Anderson, Ben Christie, Jenny-May Coffin, Rochelle Gillespie, Tiffany Hardy, Sandra Kailahi, Glen Larmer, Phil McGrath, and Sonia Madigan.

TVNZ Head of News and Current Affairs, Anthony Flannery said that he was delighted by the breadth and depth of the TVNZ 7 team.

We have had numerous enquiries on the Zinwell & DSE set top boxes not tuning on installation to all the available channels.
The easy fix is to put any size splitter between the end of the cable from the dish and the set top box (use the jumper cable supplied with the box). This will attenuate the signal.

Reset the box back to factory default and then perform a fresh installation scan. The box will now find all the channels.

The splitter can now be removed from the circuit and the box can be hooked up as normal.
We have had 100% success rate with this fix.

Please note : Ensure that a power pass port on the splitter is used. Failure to do so will result in no signal.

We have discovered a free to air channel available to NZ on Optus D1

TVNZ will go Widescreen on all digital services from September 22.

This means television programmes that are made in widescreen will be broadcast by TVNZ in the 16:9 widescreen format on the satellite versions of TV1 and TV2, as well as on TVNZ Sports Extra and the soon-to-be-launched TVNZ6 and TVNZ7, available via the Freeview platform.

TVNZ is following a world wide trend towards more programme content produced and broadcast in this format. As with the cinematic expereince, viewers find the wider aspect ratio pleasing to the eye.

TVNZ is now commissioning all new content in this format and it is expected that by 2008 most prime-time programmes will be broadcast on both TV1 and TV2 in 16:9.

Through the recently-launched Freeview platform, New Zealand viewers can enjoy many of their favourite TVNZ programmes in high quality digital video now, if they have already purchased and installed a satellite set top box, full 16:9 widescreen is available for free.

A widescreen (16:9) television or flat panel display is required to see the full image, but viewers with conventional 4:3 televisions can set their set top box to display either a 4:3 “Pan & Scan”, 16:9 “Letterbox” or a “full height” “centre cut-out” picture.
